Destination Indonesia
Location and Geography
With an island archipelago stretching the same distance as from New York to London, and a land mass two and a half times the size of Australia, Indonesia is more than ‘just’ Bali.
The national anthem refers to the country as ‘tanah airku’ meaning ‘my earth and sea’. With an amazing array of fresh seafood delivered to restaurants and cafes every day, it is very easy to realise how important the sea is to local people. On the other end of the scale, the country is also home to spectacular volcanoes and mountains, the tallest of which is so high it has a year-round glacier.
Up to two thirds of the country is covered in rainforest, whose habitat is home to elephants, tigers, orang-utan, rhinoceros and thousands of species of exotic birds. Each part of the country is unique and would take a lifetime to explore, so it’s just as well that we at Destination Asia Indonesia have devoted our lives to doing just that – exploring this exotic archipelago so that we can bring you the truly precious experience of seeing the magic of Indonesia.
