Destination Asia Myanmar has been supporting Medical Action Myanmar (MAM) since early 2017. Thazin Orchid Clinic is managed by MAM and started operating in 2009 to provide healthcare to the local community. They offer a diverse range of services for those living in Hlaing Thar Yar Township in Western Yangon. The clinic provides a wide range of outpatient services from acute medical consultations to more complex treatment including TB, HIV and nutritional support to a population of approximately 700,000 residents. In addition to clinical services, child support and child protection activities are implemented by MAM.
Destination Asia Myanmar’s donation allowed for the consultation and subsequent treatment of 320 patients between January and June 2018. People in Myanmar have very limited access to medical aid. The poorer regions in particular have few to no health services - at Destination Asia Myanmar we aim to reduce the implications of this social issue by providing healthcare assistance to those most in need.
