Destination Singapore

Marina Bay Area

Marina Bay has its fair share of attractions and is an atmospheric part of the city that is home to the Singapore Arts Museum, National Library, Merlion Park, the Esplanade, Sands SkyPark, Marina Square Shopping Centre, the Singapore Flyer as well as Sim Lim Square. It is also home to the iconic Merlion and its accompanying park with terraced seating so people can take in panoramic views of Singapore’s soaring skyline.

The best way to catch good views of the impressive cityscape is to take a river-boat tour which provides great views of the colonial buildings on the north side of the river. Another Marina Bay stalwart is The Esplanade, a 2,000-seat theatre and concert hall known to the locals as “The Durian” because of its unusual fruit-like roof. Another prominent landmark is the Marina Bay Sands; three luxury hotel towers with over 2,500 rooms and suites crowned by Sands SkyPark. At 200-metres high, this provides unobstructed 360-degree views of the city skyline and the ocean.
