What to Expect:

Located across the Bago River, on the southern banks of Yangon, Thanlyin was once the base for Portuguese adventurer Philippe de Brito, a trade representative during the early 17th century. Upon arrival Thanlyin, visit the Ancient Portuguese Church and the Bon Pyan Monastery, where guests will have the chance to see the ancient arts of the monastery and learn about the local ways of monk life. Enjoy a pony cart ride to the vibrant and colourful Thanlyin market where fruits, vegetables, and other everyday items are bought and sold. Travel by trishaw and make your way to a neighbouring village; wander through shaded streets where local villagers often come out of their houses to greet guests with big smiles on their faces.
