What to Expect:

Htwe Oo Myanmar is a local family-run business and small theatre company based out of a first-floor apartment, where each puppet is meticulously crafted by hand. After meeting your local guide, transfer to the Htwe Oo Myanmar Traditional Puppet Theatre in Yangon’s Ahlone Township and experience local life while also admiring one of Myanmar's most traditional handicrafts. Meet with U Htwe and his family, who opened the theatre in 2006 and have since been on a mission to revive this traditional performing art. Watch Myanmar string puppetry, or yoke thé, in action during a private show depicting traditional plots and stories of the Golden Land by professional puppeteers, before trying your hand at controlling the puppets yourself.
