Boating at Kampong Khleang

What to expect

This half-day experience explores life on Tonle Sap Lake, where communities have adapted to one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic freshwater environments. Travelling from Siem Reap to Kampong Khleang, the route introduces a lesser-visited village known for its scale and strong connection to the lake.

The program continues by boat, moving through a landscape of stilted houses and floating structures shaped by seasonal water levels. During the wet season, homes rise high above the surface, while in drier months, the surrounding plains are revealed. Along the way, daily life unfolds through scenes of fishing, transport, and community interaction, offering insight into livelihoods closely tied to the lake. A local lunch provides further connection to the setting before returning to Siem Reap or continuing onward.
