Journey Through Northern Laos

What to expect

This multi-day journey through northern Laos follows a quieter route shaped by rivers, mountains and long-established traditions. Travelling through lesser-visited regions, the program begins in Nong Khiaw, where limestone peaks rise above the Nam Ou River, setting the tone for a landscape where daily life remains closely tied to nature.

The route continues by traditional boat along the Nam Ou, with visits to H’mong and Khmu villages offering insight into distinct cultural practices and community life. In Vang Vieng, time is spent on the Nam Song River, explored by kayaking or long-tail boat, revealing lagoons and forested karst scenery. The journey concludes in Vientiane, where key landmarks, including historic temples and the gold covered That Luang stupa, provide context to the country’s spiritual identity and historical continuity.
