A leading luxury expedition cruise line partnered with Destination Asia Events to create a rooftop dinner for their guests during a one-night stop in Singapore. The experience needed to showcase the city’s iconic hawker culture while maintaining the elevated atmosphere expected from a high-end cruise brand. With limited time ashore, the evening was designed to immerse guests in local flavours and cultural storytelling. More than just a dining experience, the event had to impress, engage, and leave a lasting impression, delivering a memorable introduction to the destination.

  • Rooftop venue overlooking Marina Bay
    Set on the rooftop terrace at Marina Bay Sands, the venue offered sweeping views of Singapore’s skyline and waterfront, providing a striking backdrop from arrival through to the evening’s close.
  • Transformative event design
    The space was reimagined into a nostalgic Singapore-inspired setting, featuring hawker-style stands framed by a traditional atap house, complemented by wooden benches, vintage seating, and carefully curated lighting and sound.
  • A journey through Singapore’s flavours
    Guests enjoyed a curated selection of iconic local dishes, including Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, satay, and chili crab, each presented with authenticity and refinement.
  • Immersive cultural performances
    The evening began with energetic kampong dancers, followed by vibrant performances including a lion dance and traditional changing-mask act, adding movement, colour, and storytelling throughout.
With only two hours allocated for setup, precise coordination across multiple teams was essential. Working closely with venue partners, hotel staff, and suppliers, the team managed complex logistics, including shared cargo lift access, to ensure the timely delivery of all production elements. Leveraging strong relationships with Marina Bay Sands, early access to the rooftop was secured, allowing additional time to complete the venue transformation.

Detailed 3D renderings supported the planning process, aligning the client with the final concept in advance. Through meticulous coordination and strong local partnerships, the team delivered a seamless, high-impact event that transformed the rooftop into an immersive celebration of Singapore’s hawker heritage, exceeding expectations within a highly constrained timeframe.
