For decades, Long Cheng remained one of the world’s most inaccessible places. Once the secret headquarters of CIA-backed operations during the Laos conflict, the remote mountain settlement was closed to visitors for almost half a century. Today, travellers can finally explore this extraordinary chapter of the country’s history.
Beginning and ending in Luang Prabang, the journey ventures deep into northern Laos, visiting Long Cheng alongside several significant wartime locations, including former Lima Sites that played important roles during the Secret War.
