What to Expect:

Hailed as Cambodia’s second-largest city, Battambang is located just 3.5 hours’ drive from Siem Reap, making it the most accessible second destination for guests wanting to extend their trip in the Kingdom. Along the journey from Siem Reap, take in the picturesque scenery of rice paddies, farmland, wetlands, and local villages with mountains in the distance. Throughout your time in Battambang, enjoy local lunches and a stroll around the city centre, admiring the well-preserved French colonial architecture before browsing some of the local art galleries in the downtown area. Visit a local market and try a Battambang delicacy, 'fish balls', known as the best in the country. Drive out to Phnom Sampov, an important religious site and striking limestone mountain that offers breathtaking views from the mountain-top temple. Sample a variety of food and drinks at the bottom of the mountain where millions of bats make their way out of a cave to feed at sunset. Dine at Jain Bai, a social enterprise restaurant run by the Cambodian Children’s Trust before strolling to Battambang's buzzing riverside 'pub street'. And of course, ride the famous bamboo train or 'norry' as it is known locally.
